David was surprised to see his parents, George and Marilyn, in the conference room. "Son, You're adopted!" George said in his normal blunt fashion.

After the initial shock wore off, David came to grips with the fact that Shemp Howard was his real father. Since his childhood David had been ostracized for preferring Shemp to Curly, but now it all made sense...

Surprise Visitors at UWP

My training continued at UWP; both musical training for my "Up With People" cover and advanced weapon training. I learned that "G" was a deadly shot and had an impressive dossier of both military and covert work. I talked to him about what he had told me at our first meeting - that he had worked for Ekoj for over 100 years. "How is that possible?" I asked. He answered my question with a question of his own: "How old do you think I am?" I told him he appeared to be about 60 years old. To my astonishment I learned "G" was a 500 year old reptilian from beneath the surface of the Earth. Just like many of the strange new people I had met, "G" was a shape shifter. He was able to change his appearance at will.

This fascinated me and I asked what other shapes he had assumed. I found out that, like Mr. Foxx, he had used his shape-shifting abilities to infiltrate the entertainment business. Because the eventual success of Project X-101 was dependent on public acceptance, Ekoj and the Yenohp delegation understood from the very beginning that it would be crucial for them to "shape" the social conciousness of the Earth's population. This would best be accomplished by influencing the mass media from the inside. I was shocked to learn that many "household names" in Hollywood were actually agents of Yenohp. "G" told me he was in fact Elvis Presley. I couldn't believe it until "G" shape-shifted into the "King of Rock and Roll" and sang "In the Ghetto" before my very eyes!

Shortly after this revelation I became "clear" - meaning the transfer of the encoded information from my subconcious to my concious mind was complete. I now knew everything I needed to know to carry out my mission. But before I left the secret UWP training facility to begin my field work, one more revelation remained. And this would shake me more than any so far.....

I was escorted by Archibald into a conference room. In the room was a large oval shaped table and I noticed all but three chairs were occupied. I sat in the nearest empty chair - straight across the table from the other two empty chairs. Looking around the room I saw "G", Mr. Foxx, Ekoj, Heide, Hilda and three short gentlemen who looked just like the Three Stooges! (I didn't even ask....by this time I learned it was easier to not say a word.)

I was just sitting with my face in my hands when two people entered the room escorted by Tunginw (the bigfoot creature from the tunnel system). I was shocked to see my mom and dad sit down across the table from me. "Hello David," my mom said. I was speechless. I guess what was most surprising was that my folks seemed completely comfortable surrounded by a bunch of aliens, bigfoot, Redd Foxx and the Three Stooges! But I was about to get my biggest shock yet. My dad, in his normal fashion, did not beat around the bush. "Son," he said. "You're adopted." My jaw dropped; my head reeled. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I still could not formulate words. "David, Ekoj delivered you to us when you were a baby and asked us to raise you," my mom explained. "Well if you aren't my parents," I finally stammered out, "then who is?" At this moment, the "stooge" known as Curly stepped forward. "David, I am your uncle. My brother, who the world knows as Shemp, is your father. He died in a clandestine operation a number of years ago. His dying wish was that you be raised in a normal home - until it was time for you to assume your true destiny as a warrior for the Yenohp system." I was stunned - dumbfounded. And yet, deep in the recesses of my mind I knew that Curly spoke the truth. From my earliest memories, much to the chagrin of my friends, I had expressed my preference to Shemp over Curly. I had felt like an outcast harboring these unpopular feelings, yet I couldn't deny them. Now it was all starting to make sense.
